I'm moving! I know there've been false alarms in the past, but this time I really, really mean it!

My new name's RACHEL ROACH and my place is :iconrachelroach:, at rachelroach.deviantart.com.

I hope it's not too bad of an inconvenience and you all come along with me-- I've met some awesome people in my time at this account and I will be pretty bummed if I have no one to talk to at my new one. I'll be moving my pictures over there as soon as I can, so thanks a lot for bearing with me, everyone!

Lots of love,

Rachel!

Longtime watcher here. I was just wondering if you saw the new Disney movie The Princess & the Frog and what you thought of it if you did?

Oh, I did see the movie! It was SUPER AWESOME holy crap, so awesome. The animation was gorgeous, the plot was clever and zippy, it was funny as hell, the bad guy was gorgeous and really satisfyingly evil, and the chick had tons of pretty dresses. Plus the the music was nice. Plus Naveen is adorable, and it's nice to see a prince that's actually a person, too. Everyone complains about the objectification of the princesses-- and misses the part where most of the Disney princes were just there to hand the princesses a ring.

The only really sour note is midway through the movie, where a gang of cajun dudes are portrayed as brutish thugs for a bit of light slapstick comedy. It's pretty much exactly what Disney used to do to black people, and in a movie dedicated to proving that Disney has gotten over its racial issues, finding out that class issues are still totally on the table is a two-steps-forwards-one-step-back kind of thing, you know?

I agree. I'm very glad we got a prince that actually talks and a super-neato villain at the same time.
The cajun thing did strike me as a little off, but it is a "children's movie" so I suppose they figured it wouldn't matter so much.
"Evangeline" was probably my favorite song, but Facilier's song is a close second if not a tie. It definitely wins in the cool department, but Evangeline was too adorable.

Yeah, I adore Naveen, he's great. And I was such a sap for Evangeline! It was so cutesy but so awesome. Ray was all like 'back off, she's mine!' and it was sweet.
